ETHICS

Our practice functions within the provisions of the American Optometric Code of Ethics. Adherence to its tenets will enable the practice to fulfill its basic responsibilities and at the same time do the most possible for our patients and for the profession.

OPTOMETRY
|
"Doctors of optometry (OD's) are the primary health care professionals for the eye. Optometrists examine, diagnose, treat and manage diseases, injuries, and disorders of the visual system, the eye, and associated structures as well as identify related systemic conditions affecting the eye" (American Optometric Association). If eye surgery is needed, or advanced disease is present, the O.D. will refer to an Ophthalmologist and may co-manage the patient's care. Some Optometrists also specialize in such areas as pediatric vision, vision therapy, low vision, (sub-normal vision), and specialty contact lenses.
